Statment of intent
The reason I chose archeticture due to the high amount of cultural influence around Manchester which gave me a huge oppturinty to take. For my intial research I will look at Lucien Harve who is a very inspiring because he likes to use buildings as a cultural symbolization of the city and the culture.I have taken pictures in Salford Quays which give cultural influence .Sometiimes I will go to certain location twice but at different times of the day to show a difference between both backgrounds. Since theres a lot to capture in Manchester I intend to capture Deansgate tower and south tower which is perfectly located in the middle of Manchester. The juxtaposition of modern glass structures against the remnants of the area's industrial past serves as a visual representation of its evolution. With a careful eye for composition and framing, my photographs offer a thought-provoking narrative that prompts viewers to contemplate the coexistence of these contrasting elements. My lens captures the sleek reflections of contemporary buildings and the worn patina of historical structures, conveying a sense of time and transformation.
For my research I precisely plan to start looking into different photographers like Simon Buckely because he takes photos that have conncections with life and people.and also took photos of the tower of london which is a location I'm looking interested to go to.I am also exploring his work to gain inspiration before I can confindely take my photos. He takes cutting-edge pictures which really inspire me.I aspire to create spaces that are not only visually appealing.I also plan on going to locations around the UK like leeds to gain a lot of cultural influence. I'm also going to look back on Lucien Harve who is a very inspiring cultural architecture photographer who likes to take pictures of towering buildings who symbolize cultural influence.
Once I capture all the images I intend to edit them in a way to show a very vintage background to symbolize the history of Manchester and its growth since the industrial revouloution and how the cultural influence has grown since then.I really hope to capture mancuanin culture and achieve a lot different types of buildings around Greater Manchester.I would aslo like to achieve buildings which contain a lot of history.I want to develop my photography skills as I capture historical and tall buildings throughout Manchester.

This image was produced by Liam Wong(who is a Scottish photographer). It was made in the winter of 2017.He was born on the 25th of July in 1987 in Scotland,Edinburgh.Since 2015 Liam Wong has been capturing the beauty of urban nights through moments after midnight. He was inspired by a movie called Blade runner 2049 which supported his creativity of capturing urban night images. This has enabled him to extend the ways in which he takes photos and edits them with a wide range of special effects. Liam Wong would typically post similar pictures like the one above on his Instagram which would frequently get a lot of attention.I believe this image was made to inspire other people who have aspirations like Liam Wong to create similar style images like him who got inspirations from films.
The photo is called"Memories of Green"which is an image which consist of the styles of sc-fi and cyberpunk which is a type of genre of science fiction set in a lawlless subculture of oppresivesociety dominated by computer technology. The complementary colours which consists of blue and turqoise. This leads to creating a mood of dystopian and darkness expressing gothicness within the cityHe would apply video game industry effects to enhance the cyberpunk aesthetic. This image would draw the viewers eyes to the billboards and neon lights surrounding the peaceful urban city creating a urban vibe. It was also used to create emotion and a urban vibe. The shutter speed is 1/15due to the people walking across the cyberpunk market. The setting was outdoor with odd rule of thirds in the right side of the image compared to the left side of the image. It seems to be cropped as it is in a market..In my opinion this does link to movies like bald runner which display the amount of creativity that was put on to this image.Liam womg has utilised the effect of this colour to create a lighting and urban effect and convey a calm night effect. The colours used in this image was dark turquoise and orangey-white with other dark-cold colours .The image does show culture which looks very welcoming.
Liam Wong positions his quite to the left of the image due to more lighting being shown on the left of the image showing that he has used rule of thirds. He has also used a very fast shutter speed to capture the lighting and the people in the background. The ISO seems to be 200 due to the smoothness and quality of the imageThere also seems to be a fade effect in each corner of the cropped image.whcih make the persons mind focus on whats central and whats on the sides of the photo. It immediately draws attention to the lighting. Liam wong may have used a tripod, however he didnt need to.Liam didn't use a tripod in order to capture this image. This image really does show how underrated the urban market city of japan is.
When I first saw this image I thought of the urban city straight away and I couldn't think of any images produced like this.I really liked the unique style Liam Wong used to produce this really good quality image. He really shows his passion and interests through this image which what makes him spectacular and different from other photographers.I understand what he was trying to show to his audience.I would really like in the future to imitate some of Liam Wongs images.I really like how he takes his pictures and have inspiration from him

This image was produced by Lucien Herve(Who is a Hungarian photographer)He was born in Hungary 1910.It was made in 1939 in le harve. When he moved to paris he began working with artisit Alvar Alto ,Marcuel Breuer. He was inspired by the urban influence of paris.Herve is a photographer who pursues himself in urban work taking shots of apartments and towers in every type of angle. He perfected his work by reworking his frame with scissors to find the ideal composition to the nearest millimeter for the finished print. You can see in this image that harve has a very urban infulenced mind which makes him very diffrent to other architectural photgraphers. However in my opinion i think his work is only based on urban buidlings in le harve only but he does have links to other photographers who do similar work
Content:
The photo is part of a collection called le havre which is the city that Herve moved to and was infulenced by.Le harve didnt just wanna show urbanity but wanted to show the development of le harve in France. When i first saw the image I saw the city hall tower overlapping the underdeveloped apartments of le harveThe image is quite landscapeThe photgrapher titles the work Le harve wich is just the name of the city.In my opnion the title does change the way i view the image becauseit question yourmind on what the city is and where is it.I could see how underdeveloped the city of le harve. The use of the apartment being there draws the viewers attention to the development of the city and how urban the city is and shows the the communication of the image by the buidling expressing the urbanity of the city.I photo is clearly cropped to focus the viewrs eyes between the two buidlings.I
Composition:
Harve lays out his work in every awkward angle to capture the viewers attention on overlapping images to make the viewers think about the development of the city nad how urban and rural it is.Herve wants to make his viewers attention not just in the picture but the city and wants the viewer to explore it.The dull background girl makes the city feel quite empty. He uses a low ISO to capture a high quality photo. When people look back on this photo it would be quite vintage. What makes it unique is that herve didnt use any editing tools to make it look like its edited .I believe this image was edited in Photoshop he may of used a blur too on the background colour to makes us really concentrate and question message of the photo is communicating with us.I also believe there was a low ISO purposefully used capture the effects of the image.
Connection:I like Herves work because it portrays how urban the city was becoming despite the city being located in the coast of France.Their strengths are the background is very clear and portrays an opposition between the the government and the public. In my opinion I think there really isn't any weakness because the message of the picture is opposion between the government and public.Herves work links to mine by background and the subject of their work is urban in a city. From this in future shoots i would like to use these ideas by creating a mindmap based on these ideas in order to inspire me and encourage me to take photos in future shoots. The skills I will need to focus is lighting and background colour as it surrounds the message of the image and what it symbolizes. I would like to magpie some work similar to Herve. This image could have some editing but it wouldn't make it really classic such as editing effects on clouds or any type of effect in the background

Simon Buckley
Context:
The image was produced in 2017 and was made in Manchester,Salford. The Photgrapher Simon Buckley is based on the city of Salford, just across from Irwell.Currently his personal work often explores themes of transation, frequently within the urban enviroment. This photo is an example of his project which explores themes of heritage and regeneration at dawn and dusk.In my opnion it represents urabanity, especially at dawn/sunset.His work is not only produced in the Uk but internallionly in countries like France,Germany,Hong Kong. The work kind relates to a time of exhaustion and symbolization of the city.
Content:
The picture symbolises a plank which seems to be constructed in a urban city surrounded by tall urban buildings. Some people can view the landscape image as other things such as a historic plank in the middle of a urban-futuristic city. The title does change our perspective of the image because Simon buckely refers the image as ‘walk the plank which pictures a person trying to walk on the plank. The picture doesn't seem to be realistic but rather very unusual as there is construction under the planks. The theme of the work. The work communicates a difference between history and urban,I know this because in my opinion i think the plank is historic and surrounded by urban buildings
Composition:
Simon Buckley arranges his work quite centrally and low.which immediately gets the viewers attention to the planks and the construction.Simon purposefully takes the picture at this angle to confuse the audience by a construction worker appearing at the bottom of the image. In my opinion the shot seems to be framed as it captures the middle ground and foreground. There seems to be a low shutter speed due to the light being reflected to the camera lens. The rules of third is used to make to pictures easier to understand.
Connection:
What I like about their work is that they use the weather as a mood to symbolise the differences in urban and history. What I dislike is the construction worker appearing because it changes the persons viewpoint on the image and makes everyone think the same towards the image. The strengths in these images are there weather and the planks because it describes the mood and feeling of the image. The weakness of the image could be the construction surrounding the planks confusing people and not giving interest to many people viewing the image. The work links to my work by colour.I could use these ideas to help improve my future work.In my opinion I like their picture because it communicates us a message about urban and history.

Mood board
Martine Dietrich is a photographer from Frankfruft,Germany who uses double exposure in his work. His work is mainly very urban minimalistic and geometrical with strong leading lines and shapes, along side some more experimental and abstract images. He strated his photography work in 2009.A large part of martins work is shot on medium format film
Architecture moodbaord/Liam wong
I began this project by researching a variety of and photographers whose work expressed the theme of architecture selected the technique of liam wong because he really produces good quality images and focuses on the lighting.I have learned a number of new skills. These inculde the control of shutter speed.and control of lighting. The most challenging thing about this was trying to master my skills like liam wong.My initial ideas was to create a lighting effect inspired by liam wong
Moodboard
Liam Wong is a Scottish photographer who mostly captures architecture photos of Asian cities in the night. He is known for his cyberpunk futuristic sci-fi style of photography. He has had many interest from huge companies like Apple. Google and Sony. Liam Wong uses Canon EOS 5D Mark IV to create atmospheric images of Japans capital after midnight. Liam Wong uses takes his photos by using tripods for mostly time lapses but uses his hand for most of his photos. The reason I chose Liam Wong's work because it inspires me to create atmospheric work like his. The reason I like his work but it creates a vibe rural areas and his work shows a lot of neon colours which I like.

In my opinion this is my best image of the shoot because it has a very dynamic aerial landscape which captures most of Salford Quays. The angle also captures the clouds in the background which surround Salford Quays. The white balance I used was cloudy due to weather conditions and in order to capture the sky in the background in most of my shoots in this shoot. The ISO I planned to use was 800 which I did use to capture the majority of my shoots. The reason for this is if I used a lower ISO I wouldn't have been able to capture a calming sky as if I was in a studio. My shutter speed was around 1/500 to 1/1000 and I was switching between both due to clouds moving quite faintly but at some times the sky was quite still.

I think in the viewers point of view they would have thought that this would by my worst image in this shot due to the odd tower appearing is.If you were to crop the image and add the rule of thirds it wouldn't be successful at all the due to the second tower being appeared making the viewers eye not focused on the main tower. I have tried to use a central focal point but that was quite ineffective. The ISO used in this image was 1/1000 which I think was the only positive effect on this image. If I were to improve or retake this image I would definitely focus on using central focal point and remember to use the rule of thirds and the viewers eyes to the subject matter

In my opinion this is my best image of the shoot because it has a very lively aerial landscape which captures a faded smooth background. The angle alsoc captures acrobatic fading winds which symbolize a image in the viewers mind. The white balance I used was cloudy due to quite sunny weather
Editing in Photoshop
Before
After
To create this image I overlayed both images and created a background. to show a faint overlap on the building.

I explored the theme of symmetry. My first thoughts about this theme its quite unique and its interesting to explore to.I explored the archeictural bulidngs and salford quays and what it portrays. The edits I have experienced are some neon and glitch edits to make it more appearing to the audience.I mainly started on focusing on archetictural buildings.as I progessed I started taking pictures with awakward angles and I edited these pictures so they can fit into my theme of work. I used various pictures from well established photographers in this particular field of work and evaluated them in great detail, this technique really helped me learn from these master pieces, using these new learnt techniques, formal elements and effects in my own work, advancing my own ability. The technique I found most useful over this project was trying to keep my work consistent and sticking to the theme of work I had chosen
Also I tried unique edits of architectural buildings which gave me an idea of trying glitch edits.
